Special things being done in memory of Cameron:
Baby Kamryn - "Kam Kam"
Gavin "Matthew"

- The Boy Scouts received many donations in memory of Cameron from friends and family although they did not keep track of it very well for me. If you did not receive a thank you, I apologize. Thank you all so very much.
- This is a tile his sister painted for him which will be in the lobby at Lakemont Elementary School to replace the one he made when he went there. It was lost when the old school was torn down.
- A 16x16 stone has been placed in the front of the new Lakemont Elementary School in Cameron's memory along with a brick each surrounding the flagpole for Cameron and Kristen for the years they attended.
- A star has been named as "Cameron & Emily's Star" so that they will always be together. It is 228907 Telescopium and it's position is Right Ascension 18h 19m 56.86s, Declination -49 degrees 25' 36.5", Type AO, Magnitude 8.0.
GOD GAVE US A WONDERFUL SON
HIS MEMORY WILL NEVER GROW OLD
HE FASHIONED HIS SMILE OUT OF SUNSHINE
AND MOULDED HIS HEART OF PURE GOLD
HE NEEDED A NEW STAR IN HEAVEN
A BEAUTIFUL LIGHT TO SHINE
SO OUT OF THIS WORLD OF SORROW
HE CHOSE THAT DEAR SON OF MINE.
"Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
-Cameron's name has been sent to the moon via the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter by his Grandparent's. Thank you NASA as there are only a limited amount of names going on your project. Below is the certification:
- For his brithday, we donated 20 books having to do with science, art or music to the Birthday Book Club at Lakemont Elementary. The inside front covers will have Cameron's name.
- A record with his name and picture was displayed at the 2008 Compassionate Friends Conference in Nashville.
- His name was carried at the 2008 "Walk to Remember" in TN.
- A donation was also sent in honor of Matt Beard, a marine biologist who lost his life to a drunk driver at the age of 21, for the continued research of his coral reef discovery. Please visit his website at www.matthew-beard.last-memories.com to learn more about this amazing young man. My wonderful friend Connie is Matt's mom.
-Help with a marker for a friend who also lost her son.
- Some college money has also been distributed as needed and I am looking into setting up a music scholarship fund.
- In September 2008, a donation was sent to the International Christian Development Mission to help feed the 450 children at ICDM school in Bayonnais, Haiti. Food prices have increased 75% and are still going up due to the hurricane. The children are having to go hungry one or two days a week. I am reminded of Cameron helping Kristen collect items for the Hurricane Katrina victims. He helped distribute flyers, pick up items and sort items which were delivered to a drop off point and put on trucks driven to New Orleans.
- A donation was given to the little boy burned by the plane crash in Sanford.
- A package of school supplies and toys has been sent overseas for the children affected by the war.
- A donation to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Club through Arby's was made (Cameron loved their curly fries).
- A piece of Angel Boy Art was purchased and will be displayed in my home. It was painted by a boy who is blind.
- A donation was sent to help The Gout Family. They have a 5 year old little boy named Matthew who has a terminal Mitochondrial disease. His brother, Christopher, had the same disease and passed away March of 2007. Matt is nearing his passing.
- For Christmas this year, my mom and I chose an Angel from a giving tree for a needy child. We chose teenage boys as the gifts they want are a little more expensive and probably don't get picked as often.
-Throughout the year, frames and other remembrance items have been given out to the many friends I have made who have also suffered the horrific loss of a child. For me, receiving an item in memory of Cameron is so special and I hope to have helped them know their child will never be forgotten by me.
-For Cameron's birthday, 2009, I donated a Holding Onto Love book to my counselor for her patients and sent out several copies to some family members.
- TCF Longwood received a gift of love from Ron and Beverly Aycock in memory of Cameron to help all the families who have lost a child at any age, from any cause. They unfortunately also know because Ron lost his sister and Beverly's uncle lost his daughter, both too soon. Thank you for honoring Cameron! That means so much!
Tree placed at Big Tree Park in Longwood. One for Cameron and one for Nanny and Papaw. This big tree, this park has been visited by my family for years, all the way back to pictures of my great-grandparents in front of it. So we had two new trees planted there for future visits.
I am sure Cameron would be very happy that these things are being done for others in his memory. He was always very compassionate and caring.
My purpose as Cameron's mother has become to raise awareness of one's choices, support other bereaved parents and keep Cameron's memory alive as long as I live.
